ODR County Court Civil Claims

Civil Claims

Civil lawsuits filed in county courts seek to resolve disputes within the court's jurisdiction, such as debt collection, disputes between landlords and tenants, and contractual and service conflicts.

In Colorado, these lawsuits are governed by the Rules of Civil Procedure of the County Court. Individuals filing these lawsuits without legal representation must have practical knowledge of these rules and court procedures. Currently, the monetary threshold for county civil lawsuits in Colorado is set at $25,000.

In some cases, the court may order mediation to reach a resolution before scheduling a judicial hearing. During this process, a mediator facilitates the confidential resolution of the dispute. If an agreement is reached, the parties may sign a memorandum of understanding (written agreement) which must be submitted to the court.
